3MS Music are delighted to announce that Sharks return with a new studio album “Ready Set Go” [3MS016CD / 3MS016LP / 3MS016DA] which is to be released 29th June 2018. The thirteen-track album will be preceded by a single, ‘That Girl’. Listening to “Ready Set Go” is like taking a thrilling journey into an alternate timeline.

You might say that Sharks have gone Power Pop but then you could also say that they’ve gone Folk Rock or Blue Eyed Soul. The founder members who set supergroup Sharks up with the late Andy Fraser of Free, guitar genius Chris Spedding and vocalist Steve ‘Snips’ Parsons, have been making fine music together since 1973. They have effortlessly absorbed every dynamic musical trend from neo-rockabilly through punk via Tamla Motown, glam rock, classic film scores, processed dance music and beyond. It’s all there on “Ready Set Go”. Spedding and ‘Snips’ are joined by Nick Judd on keys, Gene Clark on drums and Tosh Ogawa on bass.

Sharks had a flying start with record deals, money and even a muscle car with teeth and a fin on the roof. When the car got wrapped around a tree, the good times were over and the band folded. Coming back together for some tribute shows, after Fraser’s death in 2015, it became obvious that the magic was still there. Sharks retain their drive and attitude, melded with mid-bending lyrics and serious musical chops. With talent to burn it’s no surprise that “Ready Set Go” is a quality product with a classic feel, kicked up a notch with some truly modern flourishes. As ‘Snips’ says, “We love the feel of old music but it does smell a bit musty. We wanted a fresh take on short, sharp and potent material.” Chris Spedding added, “We’ve done the difficult remembering – no room for groove busters on this record.”

Sharks continue to defy the rigours of time and stare down the demons of failure. Over 100 years of performing experience have been compressed onto one disc for your listening pleasure. If their 2017 album “Killers of The Deep” was a pleasant surprise blasting out of the distant past, then “Ready Set Go”, with thirteen hot tunes and outstanding cover art by Shaky Kane, is a sheer delight.
